Hand-Painted Mexican Huichol Large Calavera Skull
These stunning clay skulls are 100% handcrafted and hand painted by independent huichol or Wixárika artisans and families from Nayarit, Jalisco, Zacatecas, and Durango, México.
Traditional methods for producing calaveras have been in use since the 1630s. The skulls are created either for children as "sugar skulls" or as offerings to be placed on altars known as ofrendas for the Día de Muertos, which has roots in the Aztec, Mayan, and Toltec cultural celebration of the Day of the Dead. It is believed that the departed return home to enjoy the offering on the altar the families placed for them.
Each skull is beautifully painted with a premium matte finish in the style and tradition of the families, technique that has passed from generation to generation.
Perfect as an accent decor element that fits every style, and for as a beautiful and unique element for Halloween and Day Of The Death season, or just as a great and authentic decor element in your living room.
Product dimensions: 7.8" width x 6 inches height.
Notes:- Each piece is totally unique, so these artisan-made skulls may vary in color and/or style.
